I know it’s been a while since my last outfit review, but today I’m featuring a dress from one of my favorite brands: Vivien of Holloway. This UK based vintage reproduction clothing company specializes in 1940s and 1950s fashion, and has been around since 2000.
The Runaround Sue is a 1940s inspired day dress perfect for Autumn. Named after Dion and The Belmont’s song, this dress is one of a kind. To be honest, it’s one of the first 1940s inspired dresses I own and let me say that I feel fabulous in it! Its soft material makes it also perfect to wear to work.
I’ve never been a big summer lover, so the end of the season is always exciting for me. Autumn is favorite season of the year: decadent, a bit colder but aesthetically pleasing.
This beautiful Vivien of Holloway dress features a V neck and A-line skirt, which make it the perfect 1940s repro dress. This design is also available in different colours, but I went for the Amethyst shade as I thought it would suit me best.
I styled my look with a Lady Lucks Boutique hair flower and Los Flamingo Accessories. The mini hoop earrings are from Bow & Crossbones.
In terms of sizing, I was afraid a size 12 wouldn’t fit me in the bust area but after getting advice from the VOH team, I decided to order my usual size (12). Fits like a dream, with enough room on my waist and hips. One of the things I love the most about Vivien’s designs is the versatility to fit all type of shapes. I’ve been buying from them for years and the quality of their designs is beyond perfection. In addition, everything is made in London.
This is the face I made when I realized that the Runaround Sue dress has (real) pockets! Enough room to keep your smartphone safe and even carry a lipstick for touchups during the day. I used Besame Cosmetics products for my makeup.
Simply look at the fit and style of this dress. Perfect, right? I had it photographed in one of Barcelona’s most popular parks, Montjuic. I highly encourage you to invest in a gorgeous design such as this, made in the UK and using high quality materials. I got so many compliments on the street. Easy to know why!
