Miss Sixties Twist Around the World: France and Paris

Hello all! I hope you are enjoying summer despite the current circumstances. Since I won’t be able to travel further this 2020, here’s a major throwback from 2019. Last year I finally visited part of my boyfriend’s family in central France. And it was really cool and fascinating to learn more about french culture! So here goes another part of my Miss Sixties Twist Around the World series!

During our stay in Vendome, we got to visit Chateau de Chambord, a one of a kind french castle that I had visited when I was a kid. We found a beautiful vintage 2CV parked there so I got to have my photo taken!

If you are in the Central area near Chambord, I highly recommend you to try their famous raspberry liqueur named Chambord, it tastes so good!

Paris is always a good idea, don’t you think? I visited this wonderful city in February 2019 to celebrate my birthday and I was lucky enough to win a 2 night stay at the same hotel. The staff at Villa Opera Drouot are super friendly! I highly recommend staying there if you visit Paris. As we had been earlier this year, we decided to explore different parts of the city.

Jardins de Luxembourg was one of them. It’s less touristy than other green areas in Paris so expect to see a lot of locals. We visited the Latin Quarter earlier and had an ice cream at the park.

One of the highlights of the visit was to see Art Nouveau buildings such as Castel Beranger and Lavirotte Building.

The first one is a residential building designed by artist Hector Guimard and built in the late 1890s. Known as the “first Art Nouveau residence in Paris”, this building is beyond beautiful.

Another Art Nouveau style building worth seeing is Lavirotte Building, located near the Eiffel Tower. Designed by Jules Lavirotte (the same artist responsible of the Paris metro decorations) between 1898 and 1901, is also a residential building.

Paris is huge, so we decided to explore more of it. And it’s so easy to find beautiful buildings! We also had to take a walk around Montmartre, where everyone kept staring at my Alfred Shaheen hawaiian dress.

Have you ever visited France? Paris is magical, don’t you think?
