Midcentury Nostalgia! [Los Flamingo & Piplotex]

Many of us vintage enthusiasts are fascinated by the atomic designs from the 50s and early 60s. The Atomic Era was a cultural, social and artistic movement that took place in America between the late 1940s and the mid 1960s. Midcentury designs are hard to find nowadays, but thanks to some vintage inspired brands like Los Flamingo and Piplotex, one can go back to those years.

If you’ve followed me for a while you might be aware of my obsession with brooches. Earlier this year I discovered the fantastic designs of Los Flamingo, a vintage inspired jewelry brand from Australia. Their Atomic Boom Brooch is one of their most popular designs, and I can see why!

This boomerang-shaped brooch is a silver plated design of 50mm x 40mm that can be found in different pastel colors. I love its original and versatile design, perfect to wear with cute dresses, retro-inspired tops or even on a cardigan.

In addition, this brooch can be used with Magnapin to avoid creating holes on your favourite garments. Here I’m wearing the pastel pink brooch with a Tatyana shirt and the Collectif Clothing Monroe Denim Trousers.

With over 15 years of experience in the retail industry, Kirsten decided to embark herself on a journey of midcentury nostalgia, pretty pastels and all things vintage. That’s how Los Flamingo was created: and now their creations can be seen all over the world.

I’m wearing a pair of Magenta cigarette pants from Piplotex, a midcentury-inspired brand from the UK. I was lucky to win a gift voucher on their recent Instagram giveaway a couple of months ago, and I got these beautiful trousers in Magenta Pink

Available in 4 different sizes, they can also be made to your own measurements. They fit like a glove and have become one of my favorite trousers!

I love I can get to wear them to the office during the week and even on weekends for a night out in town. Comfortable and versatile, exactly what a pin up needs in her wardrobe!

The Atomic Boom Brooch is 25 AUD and is also available with a glitter effect for 27 AUD. Make sure to visit their online shop and fall in love with all their pastel designs!
